Anyone who has ever dealt with kitchen pests knows how much time and effort it takes to get rid of them! These tiny intruders can quickly take over your pantry, making it essential to act fast and take preventive measures!

1. Remove Contaminated Grains
Inspect all grains, flour, and dried fruits for any signs of insects or larvae.
If the product is heavily infested, it's best to discard it.
If the infestation is minimal, you can try salvaging the grains by sifting, washing, and then either baking them in the oven at 100–120°C (212–248°F) for 30 minutes or freezing them for 2–3 days to kill any pests.
2. Clean and Treat Your Pantry
Wash shelves with a mixture of vinegar and water (1:1) or soapy water.
Wipe down all corners, cracks, cabinet doors, and joints.
For extra protection, sprinkle baking soda or use essential oils like lavender, clove, or eucalyptus to repel insects.
3. Store Grains Properly
Use airtight glass, metal, or thick plastic containers with secure lids.
Add a bay leaf, a clove of garlic, or a cotton pad with a few drops of lavender essential oil to deter insects.
Store grains in a dry, well-ventilated area.
4. Prevent Future Infestations
Buy grains in small quantities to avoid long storage periods.
Regularly inspect your pantry for any signs of pests.
As a precaution, freeze newly purchased grains for 3 days to eliminate potential insects before storage.
By following these steps, you can keep your pantry clean and free from unwanted guests. A little care and prevention go a long way in maintaining fresh and pest-free grains! 🚫🐜
