"Life becomes far easier once you know that things will still work out even if you are lacking something" Marie Kondo
I often discuss with my clients the feeling of impending scarcity—the anticipation of not having enough. This feeling can cloud our true understanding of what is actually sufficient for us.
What Do We Really Need?
How much do I really need? What items bring me comfort? Instead of clarity, there’s often a subtle fog of anxiety—what if I need something, but I don’t have it? And suddenly, the urge to keep everything appears.
The Value of Things vs. Independence from Them
I don’t advocate for completely diminishing the value of things. I believe that with value comes joy and care. However, I deeply resonate with the idea of a certain independence from material possessions—when we don’t worry too much about them, don’t fear losing them, and don’t stress about potential shortages.
Finding Balance
Our overall joy in life doesn’t diminish significantly, even if some form of scarcity is present. Finding balance between valuing our belongings and maintaining a sense of freedom from them is key. When we trust that we have enough, we can experience life with greater ease and peace of mind.
So perhaps the real question isn’t about what we might lack, but about whether we can trust that what we have is already enough.
